eJournalism Centre The ejournalism centre occupies a National Trust protected building which began its life as a magistrates' court building in 1934. The Morning Bulletin declared the building "an excellent monument to the Works Department, local workmanship and manufacture". It is part of a legal precinct which includes the Supreme Court Building where unionised shearers were convicted of conspiracy in 1891. Coverage of the trial by radical journalists, including William "Billy" Lane, prompted the formation of the Australian Labor Party. The buildings were transferred to the university in 1999, as part of the "Smart City" urban renewal project. Clearly these facilities are only available to students enroled in Rockhampton.
